Rad Reno: Total Renovation Turns Drab Uptown Apartment Into Colorful Modern Family Home

Relocating from NYC’s hip SoHo neighborhood to the Upper East Side, architects and designers brought a lot of color and a bit of downtown cool to the uptown pad.

After trading SoHo for Park Avenue, they enlisted designer Celerie Kemble and architectural firm Lichten Craig to blend the best of both worlds.

Furnishings with strong shapes and deep colors ground vivacious art in the living room. Custom sofa in a JB Martin fabric; armchairs in a Holland & Sherry fabric, Todd Alexander Romano; vintage Karl Springer ottomans in a Moore & Giles leather; coffee table, John Salibello; chandelier, Lindsey Adelman; rug, Merida; art, Klari Reis.

The drama of red repeats in a multitude of iterations throughout the apartment. Sofa in a Perennials fabric, Cisco Brothers; coffee tables, Sasha Sykes; sconces, Visual Comfort; walls in a Phillip Jeffries grass cloth; hide rug, Saddlemans.
