Open House: Irish Castle Undergoes $75 Million Renovation And The Result Is Stunning
If you ever wondered how Harry Potter celebrated defeating Voldemort, we have your answer. He went to Ashford Castle.
Yes, it’s that magical. And now, it’s been renovated. The castle was purchased in 2013 by the Red Carnation Hotel group, which spent an astounding $75 million bringing it up-to-date. According to Forbes, the renovation project included adding a movie room, billiards room, a terrace on which you can smoke cigars, a cottage by the lake, wine cellars and a children’s room. Because it’s certainly not a spa vacation if you have to deal with screaming children.
Because that spa, man. That spa looks like a dream plopped in a champagne glass with chocolate covered raspberries sprinkled on top. There are five treatment rooms, a Hammam (a Turkish bath), a steam room and, of course, views of the lovely lake and countryside.
If for some reason you feel like leaving the spa, there are other things you can do at the castle like clay shooting, golf, fishing, falconing (look how awesome those tweed jackets are!), horse riding, archery and boat trips on the lake, Lough Corrib.
Or, you know, you could get married. A blessed union, indeed.
